Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District (Memorandum Opinion) |
Rebuttal (Intelligent Design network, inc.) |
|
In the "Intelligent Design" case of Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District
(U.S. District Court, PA), the court issued an opinion that effectively
dismantles ID. That is not hard to do, but this decision does it well - very
well. While it won't be the last word on the subject, this is the decision that
gets the train going in that direction. If you doubt that this is the end, read the ID proponent's press release on the ruling ... the desperation is obvious. Their rebuttal to the decision is that the court has inserted "non-theistic religions" as a state-sponsored religion. The rebuttal declares nontheism, atheism, agnosticism, and materialism to be "religions". Now, I really don't want to be religious, but it seems that I have no choice, at least in the mind's of ID-proponents! I HAVE to be religious because my lack of belief constitutes belief. How then, can I become a non-religious person? If I die and stop thinking, will I be religious then too, or are inanimate objects also religious? Is my sofa religious? It takes great skill to be this stupid! I'm waiting anxiously for Intelligent Gravity. After all, gravity is just a theory - It is not a fact. There are a lot of unanswered questions with regard to gravity, so shouldn't students be taught alternative theories? I maintain that there is no gravity at all. Rather, it is the mighty hand of God that pulls us down to Earth, thus preventing our premature entry into Heaven. |
